Non-profit Partnerships
A leadership gift from ICON Health & Fitness helped launch the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s capital campaign to build a permanent home in Utah for the Foundation’s work: granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions.
The building in Salt Lake City is called A Wishing Place, and it’s used throughout the process of granting a child’s wish. Children and their families visit there at least three times: to choose and declare a wish in a magical interactive process in the Wishing Tower; to celebrate the fulfillment of a wish in the context of a party with friends and family; and to leave behind an engraved glass star in memory of the wish in an interactive sculpture created for that purpose in the lobby.
The facility is also used for volunteer work and training, to house the administrative offices of the organization, and for client family respite activities throughout the year. In 2006, A Wishing Place hosted 250 wishmaking events, and the building has transformed the way the Foundation’s services are delivered in wonderful ways.
